I have been traveling a lot this year. I have been to India, Nepal, Honduras, Dominican Republic internationally and I have also spent a week in Wilmington, NC. I have been working with ministries across Burlington, NC and Georgia to help with poverty stricken areas and food distribution as well as improving living conditions for those recovering from disasters, Hurricane Florence, to be exact. I have done all of this in the last 6 months. In the near future their will be many opportunities to get involved with medical missions and local missions around Burlington, NC. There is one thing that I have noticed that is needed apart from anything else whether internationally or locally, and it is prayer.
Prayer is the one thing that can change hearts and lives. Over the past few months God has been dealing with me over the issue of prayer. One thing that I keep hearing is that if prayer is not first on your mind and in your heart then you are walking blindly. In the words of John Piper, "Prayer is a walkie-talkie for warfare, not a domestic intercom for increasing our conveniences." One of my favorite verses in God's Word is Psalm 90:17 "Let the favor of the Lord be upon us, and establish the work of our hands-- yes establish the work of our hands." This verse is a prayer. I have been thinking through how we as The Lamb's Chapel can more effective and how the favor of the Lord can be upon us and establish the work of our hands. We do not need more stuff. We need a heart for lost people hurting and dying in this world. What God has shown me in praying and meditating on this verse is that the first thing we need to do is pray and the outcome of the prayer will be favor on all that we do.
For the past several weeks I have been working on The Lamb's Chapel Missions Wall. What you will see as you walk past it are clip boards with prayer notes for several of our international missionaries. Below the prayer notes are prayer booklets for Voice of the Martyrs and Samaritan's Purse. Both of these books give you an idea of both the persecuted church as well as the needs around the world that need your prayers. Please take a moment and visit the Missions Wall near the prayer rooms and take time to pray through some the prayer points.
Please continue to check back to see how you can pray for our missionaries internationally and locally. Also, you can check out how to get involved at missions.tlcalive.com.
