Impacting Generations to Come

There is something special about watching God open a new chapter in the story He has been writing for decades. We believe we are standing at that moment now.

What lies ahead is bigger than a new name or a new campus. It is an opportunity to dream about what God can do through a church and school positioned to serve families, impact our community, and invest in lives for years to come.

We know a step this significant brings questions. These FAQs are designed to provide clarity about what is ahead, why we are moving in this direction, and what you can expect as the vision takes shape.

We are grateful for all that has brought us to this moment, and we are excited to see where God leads us next.

‍The future is in front of us, and generations are waiting to be reached.

FAQ's

We are stepping into a new chapter as a church and school, building on the foundation God has established through The Lamb’s Chapel and Grace Christian Academy.

Our names, campus, and some of our facilities may change, but the heart of who we are will remain the same. We remain committed to the Word of God, reaching people with the Gospel, developing disciples, investing in children and students, and reaching the next generation.

We are grateful for the legacy God has given us and excited about the opportunity to carry that legacy forward. As we look ahead, our desire is to build on what has been entrusted to us and create a ministry prepared to reach, raise, and release undeniable followers of Jesus Christ for generations to come.

As this vision takes shape, there will be questions we are still working through. We are committed to communicating clearly and openly as plans develop and details are finalized.

What are we doing?

We are changing the name of The Lamb’s Chapel to Legacy Church and Grace Christian Academy to Legacy Christian School. As part of this transition, we are also moving the school from its current Haw River campus to the church campus.
‍
We are developing the campus so the church and school can operate together as one ministry family while maintaining their distinct ministry functions. This will include new and renovated spaces for the school, church ministries, athletics, students, children, worship, and community.

Ultimately, this is about creating a unified ministry campus designed to reach, raise, and release undeniable followers of Jesus Christ for generations to come.

Why are we doing it?

We believe God has given us an opportunity to position this ministry for the next generation.

The Lamb’s Chapel and Grace Christian Academy have historically operated in two different locations and, in many ways, under two different identities. Yet we share the same spiritual mission. Bringing these ministries together allows us to create greater alignment between church and school, steward our property, facilities, staff, and financial resources more effectively, and provide better facilities and opportunities for our students and families.

It also gives us an opportunity to strengthen the connection between school families and the life of the church while creating room for continued growth in both ministries. A unified identity allows us to communicate more clearly who we believe God is calling us to become.

This isn't about abandoning our history. It is about building on it.

‍
The Lamb’s Chapel and Grace Christian Academy have incredible legacies. We want to honor what God has done while preparing for what He wants to do next.

Why now?

There are seasons when God opens doors that may not remain open forever.

We are experiencing significant growth in our church and school. At the same time, opportunities have emerged with property, facilities, financing, and long-range planning that allow us to address several needs together rather than independently.

We don't want to simply solve today's space problems. We want to ask a bigger question: What will this ministry need 5, 10, and 20 years from now?

‍
We believe this is the right season to prepare for that future.

The timing also allows us to bring several major decisions—branding, facilities, school growth, ministry growth, and campus development—under one comprehensive vision rather than addressing them piece by piece.

When are we going to do it?

This will be a phased transition, not something that happens overnight.

There are several important milestones ahead, including finalizing the Legacy Church and Legacy Christian School branding, communicating the vision clearly to our congregation, school families, and community, and completing architectural, construction, and renovation plans. We will also prepare the campus for the school transition and implement changes to signage, digital platforms, printed materials, uniforms, branding, and other identity elements.

The school will transition to the church campus when the appropriate facilities are ready.

Some dates and details are still being finalized. We will communicate what we know when we know it. As timelines are confirmed, we will communicate them clearly and consistently.

How are we going to do it?

Prayerfully, strategically, together, and in steps.

This will require tremendous coordination between church leadership, school leadership, staff, elders, boards, architects, contractors, ministry leaders, teachers, parents, and volunteers. Throughout the process, our focus will remain on ministry, people, clear communication, wise stewardship, excellence, and flexibility.

We believe buildings should serve ministry, not the other way around. We want to care well for the people affected by these changes while making wise decisions about costs, priorities, timing, and long-term sustainability. We also want church and school ministries to continue effectively while construction and transitions take place.

At the same time, we recognize that plans and timelines may need to adjust as construction and development progress. We will remain flexible while keeping the mission in front of us.

This is not simply a facilities project. It is a ministry transition.

Will there be inconvenience, change, or ministry transition?

Yes. We want to be transparent about that.

Any project of this size will create some inconvenience. There may be seasons when parking, entrances, traffic patterns, ministry locations, room availability, or schedules need to change. Construction may create noise or other temporary disruptions. School and church ministries will also have to coordinate space in ways we haven't before, and some familiar spaces, routines, or traditions may change.

Some things we have grown accustomed to may no longer exist in exactly the same form. We will work hard to minimize unnecessary disruption and protect ministry effectiveness throughout the transition.

We know change can bring a range of emotions, especially when the places and names involved hold so many meaningful memories. The Lamb’s Chapel carries a rich history for many, and Grace Christian Academy has been an important part of the lives of families, alumni, teachers, and students. We want to honor the memories and stories connected to these places as we look forward to what comes next.

‍
Legacy Church isn't an attempt to erase the story of The Lamb's Chapel. Legacy Christian School isn't an attempt to erase the story of Grace Christian Academy.

‍They are the next chapters of those stories.

‍
And throughout the transition, we will work hard to protect ministry effectiveness. There may be inconvenience, but our goal is to avoid unnecessary ministry interruption as we prepare for what God has ahead.

How will we fund the vision?

We believe we need to count the cost carefully as we move forward. What was presented at Vision Night was the vision and conceptual design, not final architectural plans or construction documents. We are now working with our architects and financial consultant to develop more definitive costs. As those numbers become reliable, we will communicate them. We do not want to give the church a number prematurely that may ultimately be inaccurate.

As we develop those costs, we are also evaluating several potential resources to help fund the vision, including the sale of the Haw River property, financing, and a generosity campaign. Our financial consultant is helping us determine the healthiest combination of resources. We are also exploring opportunities for Legacy giving, including estate gifts and other forms of charitable giving.

Our goal is to move forward wisely, prayerfully, and with a clear understanding of what it will take to make this vision a reality.

Did we consider other options for building?

Yes. We have carefully considered options for keeping and modifying the existing sanctuary, as well as the possibility of building an entirely new school while leaving the current church facilities in place.

As we have worked with our consultants and architectural team, we have determined that renovating the existing sanctuary while building a completely new school would be significantly more expensive and would still leave us with limitations in our current worship space. At the same time, building a new school campus from the ground up would require much more than classroom space, including offices, restrooms, common areas, specialized learning spaces, parking, infrastructure, utilities, and other facilities. Retrofitting and repurposing the facilities we already have allows us to use our existing resources more efficiently.

The proposed plan allows us to repurpose our current facilities for the school while building a worship center specifically designed for the needs of our church today and where we believe God is leading us in the future. There are things we would like to provide in our worship environment that our current facility simply was not designed to accommodate. A new worship center gives us the opportunity to address those needs while maximizing the property and facilities we already have.

There is also a larger ministry vision behind this approach. We believe there is tremendous value in bringing our church and school together on one campus rather than maintaining two separate campuses with duplicated facilities, infrastructure, and expenses. Our desire is for Legacy Church and Legacy Christian School to complement one another and create an environment that serves children, students, families, adults, and our community throughout the week.

Ultimately, this vision allows us to steward what we already have while strategically creating the spaces we believe are needed for the future, and to build one campus where we can reach, raise, and release the next generation.

Will our church be affiliated with other Legacy churches in NC?

We are aware that other churches in North Carolina and around the country use the name Legacy Church. While we share a name, our church will have its own distinct identity, leadership, and mission. We are not affiliated with or connected to those churches or organizations. Our name reflects the unique story, calling, and vision God has given our church as we look toward the future.

What are we being asked to approve on October 11th?

The October 11 affirmation vote is specifically to change the name of The Lamb’s Chapel to Legacy Church.

Faithful to What God is Doing

Over the years, God has been faithful to The Lamb’s Chapel. We’ve seen lives changed, families strengthened, people come to faith in Jesus, and our church grow in ways we could never accomplish on our own. As we look toward the future, our desire is to remain faithful to the mission God has given us while being willing to step into whatever He has next.

Vision Night gives our church family a chance to hear that vision together. It’s a chance to understand the heart behind where we’re headed, celebrate what God has already done, and recognize the opportunities in front of us. We believe the future of our church isn’t built by a few people, it’s something we step into together, with faith, prayer, and a willingness to follow.
